Kohaku River Spirit Stuffed Animal

Otherwise known as "the dragon from Spirited Away."

LOOK HOW FLOOFFY HE TURNED OUT! I love it.

Haku us made with faux fur and that ultra soft fabric from Joann Fabrics. It's my first time using only soft fabric and not fleece for a stuffed animal! I've been hesitant because it's so messy to work with 😣... but I love how it turned out anyway. I guess it's a necessary sacrifice.

The mane is made from yarn that I painstakingly sewed together and up the back, then unraveled strand by strand. That was probably the most time consuming part of the project. But I only took on the challenge because I learned how to make hair out of yarn like that!

As usual, the form is stuffed just enough to show the shape of the dragon, without requiring an armature or anything. After my first few attempts at a wire armature I decided it wasn't worth it. It only takes away from its cuddle-ability! So no armature in Haku. Instead, he keeps this S-shape that I found in a chibified version of Haku on Deviant Art (link forthcoming).
